It was September 2010 when the first leak of LG Optimus Pad spread across the blogosphere until to its official release (as G Slate) on the first quarter of this year along with Optimus 3D smartphone. Now, in case you’re wondering what’s next with the Korean-based tablet, a new report surfaced today suggesting it’ll have its next-gen model soon.

So this LG Optimus Pad 2 svelte was reported by insiders originating from a Korean website whereas its specifications reveal an 8.9-inch WXGA screen powered by a dual-core 1.5GHz Qualcomm type of processor. However, it appears this one won’t have a front-facing camera whereas its rear cam will be augmented to 8MP compared to its predecessor’s 5-megapixel camera.
As of the moment, it’s not yet fully determined what type of Android version it’ll be running but based from the leaked picture (orthodox side), it appears the new LG tablet is infused by a modified / skinned Honeycomb (Android 3.x) platform. Likewise, we keep our fingers crossed if this one will receive Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) once it hits a public launch. Speaking of which, there’s still no word about the device’s release date or price but there’s a big chance it’ll be under a new moniker for its US counterpart riding with a similar cost compared with the original Optimus Pad earlier this year.
