A couple of days ago we were convinced that the concealed Limesn0w jailbreak of George Hotz (geohot) will be for iOS 4.1 as well. But come to think of it, we already have three jailbreaks for that and even though the first two (Limera1n and Greenpois0n) is not yet working on older iDevices (iPhone 3G and 3GS; iPod Touch 3g and 2G), the developers assure that it will come soon on their final release happening on the same brand of hack as well. The Pwnage Tool for 4.1 also claims to jailbreak every iOS 4.1 devices even the Apple 2G. Which brings the question, what’s in store for Limesn0w now?
Your best bet is, it will be a new hack for a brand new iOS in which Geohot may or may not surprise the users again just like what he did on his Limera1n. Or, it could just be a site to build anticipation for his coming unlock attempts.
The only thing his Limera1n jailbreak needs now is a unlocking partnering tool (Much like iPhone-Dev’s Pwnage Tool and UltraSn0w combo) So it would be very possible that the Limesn0w will be used for unlocking iPhone / iPod Touch and iPad provided that it should passed first on his Limeran1 jailbreak. But don’t get your hopes too up already, as Musclenerd states, “It would be impossible to unlock any device if it has an original iOS 4.1”. Meaning those device that were created just this year (iPhone 4 and iPod Touch 4g) should have an iOS 4.2 or beyond for it to be unlocked.
Well if that’s the case then let’s see if Geohot will beat the odds once again.
