It’s obvious that the new Macbook Pro today are the greatest models by Apple which is the most powerful even if you compared its least 13-inch Core i5 2.2GHz Sandy Bridge version to the puny 2010 Macbook Air 11-inch. Just to make a point, the Macbook Pro today are still less spectacular because of these reasons but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t think about buying it especially if you don’t have any Macbook Pro yet in your arsenal.
As of the moment, it would be just to compare the Macbook 2010 to these new ones and let you be the judge if its fair to get this upgrade or not.
Starting with the old 13-inch Macbook Pro (2010), its least specifications would be packing a 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo w/ NVIDIA 320M GPU, 250 GB HD and 4GB RAM; whereas the new 13-inch Macbook Pro will be running with the new Intel Sandy Bridge Core i5 processor, 4GB RAM, 320GB HD and the latest Intel Integrated 3000 GPU.
Next would be the 15-inch Macbook Pro in which the old version carries out a 2.4GHz Core i5 processor, GeForce GT330M, 330GB HD and 4GB RAM; whereas the new 15-inch Macbook Pro packs a staggering build of Core i7 “only” setup, newly fangled AMD Radeon HD 6000M GPU, 4GB RAM, 500GB HD.
And lastly, the old 17-inch Macbook Pro which has the same specs like the 15-inch MBP; is easily trounced by the new Macbook Pro 17-inch model.
Take note that their prices didn’t change starting with 1, 199 USD, 1,799 USD up to 2, 499 USD.
And that’s not tall, the 2011 Macbook Pro would have the Thunderbolt I/O technology which is the current fastest data-transferring connection ever built on a Laptop – more faster than USB 3.0.
Here’s to say that if you are planning to buy for a high-end laptop and you have the money, don’t settle for the Macbook Air, just go for the new Macbook Pro. Anyway, if the condition is, you have the 2010 Macbook Pro, you can always wait for the 2012 model so at least you have saved another 15-20 benjamins on your wallet.
But that’s just me.
