New MagicJack Allows Unlimited Free Cellphone Calls with Femtocells | Specs Review

Posted on 12 January 2010 by pinoytutorial

We have been given the convenience of making unlimited calls to landline phones to US and Canada without worrying about the fees like IDD or Long Distance and that was made possible by Magic Jack. A lot of freelancers and Home based jobs are equipped with Magic jack because these individuals get to cut cost and I mean a lot of moolah being saved here.

I believe that you are well aware that most people nowadays prefer to work at home. Work such as Virtual assistant, Home-based call centre agent and Virtual Assistant needs to call out to different parts of the US. Magic Jack has helped these freelancers and a lot of individuals to save on phone bills. For only $40 (that pays for the unit itself) you get 1 whole year of unlimited calls to US and Canada, that’s for landline phones! So how does Magic jack works (for those who doesn’t have any idea) as a computer device that gives VoIP capabilities to those who has a high-speed internet connection.

Imagine calling mobile phones with no limits, no time, no fees… Now imagine no more! Introducing a Femtocell, this device is actually made for home or small business and it uses a tiny cellular base station to support outgoing calls to mobile phones. Here’s a picture of how Femtocell will work (Generally)

Now Magic Jack will give you the freedom to enjoy unlimited calls to mobile phones from your mobile phone for just $40 (Unlike the previous Femtocells out now Magic Jack’s version is way cheaper and smaller). Protest from local carriers might just run a protest about what Magic Jack have done but this wouldn’t be so soon yet.

Magic Jack Femtocell will be available most probably by May 2010, so phone carriers such as AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon can hold their horses till then (Magic Jack Femtocell works perfectly fine with these carriers’) So is there any exception or catch to use this device? So far all I know is that it works with any GSM standard mobile phones.

Interesting product, but femtocells operate in regulated spectrum that carriers pay for. I am not sure how Magic Jack manages the calls and spectrum. If it is not properly managed it can also lead to interference with other mobile devices.

Sensible comments/suggestions are always appreciated.
