MDK2 has been confirmed as one of the latest classics that will be remade as a downloadable release, Interplay announced. The Wii version of the game is currently under development for the Nintendo high definition (HD) and another version is also planned to be released on Windows PC.

Originally developed by BioWare before it was released by Dreamcast in the year 2000, the game stars an ordinary janitor and reluctant hero named Kurt Hectic, the eccentric scientist Fluke Hawkins and the mechanical dog named Max much remembered by the fans for its humor and action.
The new challenge for the developers is to squeeze MDK2 into a file that is as small as the one-seventh fraction of its original size. According to a report from Nintendo, Beamdog co-founder told them that the motion controls of Wii fit well with the gameplay of MDK and hinted that a humble graphical standard for the game is being considered.
Olster also revealed that the 40mb file size limit was “somewhat of a shock” to his company. He said, ““We did some quick projections and knew it was going to be a tough job taking a 280 MB … game and crunching it down to 40 MB.”
This led to some contents of the game being cut including some of the game’s soundtrack. WiiWare has already released the BioWare developed sequel in the market while the PC version will follow next year.
