Before we get along with our topic which is all about Modern Warfare 3’s DLC release exclusivity on Xbox 360, we would like to share first an interesting insight from the gamingsphere today.
According to several market watchers, Battlefield 3’s Xbox 360 manage to rake as much as 2.2 million copies worldwide while PS3 only made 1.5M hinting there’s a possibility some PS3 players are waiting for Modern Warfare 3’s arrival next Tuesday, that’s why they’ve skipped purchasing BF3.
But would that be the case if they knew Modern Warfare 3’s downloadable packs will first to arrive on Xbox 360?
I know the case may sound trivial but given with the data we had on Black Ops’ alpha DLC “First Strike”, there was a commotion discussed between Playstation 3 players about its “one month exclusivity” to Xbox 360. Actually, the reason for this is the tie-up of Activision and Microsoft that began last year and one of the agreement was to provide benefits for Xbox 360 in terms of receiving DLC titles earlier than other platforms. This tie-up will last up to three years which should cloud the full first year of Modern Warfare 3 until the end of 2012.
Unfair Treatment for PS3 Players?
In our previous report, we revealed that there’s a rumor about the Modern Warfare 3’s first DLC called “Intel Pack” which will reveal bonus maps and other in game items. However, in case Infinity Ward tried to reveal special map pack contents like what Treyarch did infusing the game with zombies, and have it on a four-week exclusivity for Xbox 360, will PS3 players feel left out?
Likewise, this creates an interesting discussion for Playstation 3 players if they could really do something about the situation or, just simply learn to live with this exclusivity agreement until it ends. What do you think?
