Motorola Citrus (previously known as the leaked WX445) is Motorola’s latest entry to the mobile world for the budget and environment conscious consumer looking for an entry level smartphone.

The Motorola Citrus will be sporting Android 2.1 with Motorola’s Blur UI. Resolution of the 3 inch QVGA resolution capacitive touchscreen was a bit too small compared with other entry level smartphones. Mobile OS Interface and web surfing was not that responsive for an Android 2.1 phone running with a 524MHz MSM7525 processor although the touch panel trackpad at the upper back of the unit (a.k.a. BACKTRACK) helped out a lot. The Motorola Citrus was easy to grip and rests comfortably in the palm of your hand. The dedicated physical Send / End keys was a welcome addition to the curved design.
Other features include a microUSB port, 3.5mm headphone jack, WiFi radio, Bluetooth with stereo audio support, a microSDHC expansion slot, and a 3.0 MP camera with video recorder and speakerphone capabilities.
One aspect of this device that is good to hear is its environmentally sound production. The whole package, from the unit, to its user manual and the packaging is made from recyclable materials. The unit is 25 percent post-consumer recycled plastic both PVC and BFR free. The user manual is 100 percent recycled paper and soy-based ink with the packaging 80 percent recycled paper.
Expect this latest offering to be sold in time for the Holiday season with the price to be announced.
