The Motorola Citrus is here. Big whoop!

Verizon has recently confirmed the release of the Motorola Citrus, an Android based smartphone, for November 11. This is simply a phone that plays second (or dead last) fiddle to a lot of things. It’s the second to the cheapest smartphone under contract. The Citrus also still has the following specs (as leaked back in October):
- 528MHz Qualcomm MSM7225 processor
- A low-res 3-inch screen
- Android 2.1 with some Blur customizations
Compared to the cheapest entry level smartphone around, the T-mobile Comet by Huawei for $9.99, this just screams failware to a lot of people. Things like slow processor, laggy UI browsing and slow browsing, small resolution you can see the pixels clearly and Android 2.1 makes this almost the long lost smarter brother of dumbphones.
Here’s a YouTube hands-on video of the unit, and everyone can see the previously mentioned faults:
Since this is a low-end “smartphone”, the price point is also in the low-end. The phone is available on Novermber 11 for $50 (after a $100 mail rebate) under a two year contract with Verizon. For the same price, people would be better off with a candybar dumbphone rather than this touchscreen smartphone.
