Just before the year-end of 2010, we’ve previewed this next-generation CLIQ device (CLIQ 2) from Motorola which was also called ‘begonia’ at that time. So far, the real change that we have seen with this device compare to CLIQ 1 was its new orange UI. Today, it finally got its official PR treatment fresh from the Motorola announcement moments ago.
On first glance, the Motorola Cliq 2 could look really mediocre compared to the Droid Bionic of the same company, but one should realize this smartphone is targeted for other users and that honeycomb looking keyboard design is just a proof for that. Just like what we predicted, its capacitive screen will be under a 3.7 inch FWVGA (854×480 resolution) display and it will have a sliding full-QWERTY keyboard. Its processor would be set to 1GHz, 5MP rear camera and it will use MOTOBLUR for its UI.
Coming from the early impressions from engadget, the look and feel for this device is like a chubby and curvier Droid whereas its keyboard proves to be rubbery but responsive to the touch. If you are interested, expect this one to have its release date on January 19 under the T-mobile carrier. There’s still no word if the CLIQ 2 could support 4G connectivity.
