At last, the long wait is over. Motorola Cliq users can finally upgrade their phones to Android 2.1. Éclair!

The long-awaited upgrade should take around 40 minutes but would require another 10 minutes to reboot the phone. But after the long list of essential updates, the new Cliq will definitely be faster along with its updated apps and programs. That’s one thing that the older Android versions cannot offer. However, the upgrade may also result to some data loss and inability of apps. MyFaves and Mobile Backup will also be removed.
Furthermore, the upgrade package will include improved multimedia apps, windows 7 home screens, Sticky Notes, loads of Google apps, Contact Quick Tasks, improved widgets and the latest versions of Gmail, Google Search plus Youtube.
To begin with the update, Cliq users must need to check if their phone meets the upgrade requirement. Always keep in mind that the Motorola phone should be fully charged along with an active sim. Then before connecting the phone to the computer, the upgrade software must be downloaded.
Once done, just drag and drop the software to the microSD storage and remove the USB hardware from the computer. Then finally install the update through the phone settings via System Updates. It is also important to delete the upgrade package after the installation in order to receive future phone updates.
For the full list of instructions, just simply go to Motorola’s Upgrade Site and follow the step by step list. With Éclair on Cliq, your smartphone experience will surely be worthwhile.
