Over the years the mobile phone has evolved from just being a simple tool for communication. We don’t use it just for making calls and sending text messages anymore, but we also use it to take pictures and videos, keep our schedules organized, and even surf the net. These types of phones are most often called smartphones.

Smartphones are usually for the tech-savvy type of individual; these are the people who wanted more from their devices aside from call and text functions. Most of these people are willing to spend considerably more just to get a device that offers more functions such as surfing the web and other third party applications.
And speaking of smartphones, Motorola has just come out with one of its newest Android-based smartphone called the Motorola Defy. From the looks of it, it seems that the Defy offers an interesting combination of a solid set of features and ruggedness that will surely catch the attention of many consumers especially those who are prone to dropping and scratching their phone.
The Defy sports a 3.7 inch screen with a 480×854 pixels resolution, which is just right for a phone that enables touchscreen dialing. It is also equipped with Android Éclair 2.1 that comes with enhanced MOTOBLUR UI, Swype Technology and powered by an 800 MHz CPU. The Defy also comes with Wi-Fi, aGPS receiver, and is both Bluetooth and 3G capable, which is quite a good combination.
The Motorola Defy only measures 59x107x13.4 mm and weighs a mere 118 grams which perfectly fits both in the palm as well as in your pocket. Aside from this, the Defy is also resistant to dust, water as well as scratches making it quite different from other smartphones available in market nowadays. Other basic features include a 3.5 mm audio jack, FM radio with RDS, a 5 megapixel camera with auto-focus and LED Flash, 2GB of internal memory, 512 MB of RAM and a microSD slot that can accommodate up to 32GB.

The Motorola Defy may not be the most powerful Android-based device in the market, but it will certainly make your mobile experience as well as using its wide array of functions and applications such as Google Maps, Social Networking and other Google Services an extremely enjoyable experience.
The Motorola Defy is expected to be launched in Europe within the fourth quarter of the year. However, there is no information yet as to how much this device will be offered.
