The Motorola XOOM tablet might be well on its way of having 4G LTE support.

Having appeared in Verizon’s minimum advertised price (MAP) list, it does indicate that a XOOM tablet with 4G LTE support (or better known as Motorola XOOM LTE) is ready to be released. As its name implies, the MAP is a reference suggesting the lowest prices that retailers can advertise for certain devices.
So what is this commotion about 4G LTE really? Aside from being the latest innovation on mobile broadband technology, it stands for fourth generation mobile broadband long-term evolution (LTE). Having 4G in place means that system is not only comprehensive but it also provides a secured all-IP based mobile broadband solutions to laptops, tablets, modems (wireless), smartphones and other mobile devices. Users are also able to enjoy services such as gaming, multimedia streaming, IP telephony and ultra-broadband internet access among others. Also, with LTE, peak download speed is able to reach up to 150 mbps.
If you happen to have a XOOM (with 3G), don’t worry as current owners of the tablet should be able to upgrade their devices to 4G free of charge with a one-week turnaround courtesy of FedEx. Although appearing on MAP, it’s likely that the XOOM LTE would be available later this summer.
No information on price and availability was included in the MAP though so we’ll just have to wait for that.
