MSI is starting the year with a big bang after introducing the Big Bang-Xpower II motherboard which is the company’s flagship mainboard product for Intel’s latest X79 processors.
The new beast is meant for hardcore gamers and serious enthusiasts who are building a PC for raw power. For starters, aside from its Intel X79 Express chipset, it supports 4-way NVIDIA SLI / AMD CrossFire technology that can easily chain two dual-GPU video card, 8 slots of quad-core RAM theoretically maxing it up to 128GB RAM and adheres the PCI Express Gen 3 standard cranking up to 32GB/s of max bandwidth.
Obviously, the big bang needs a lot of power to juice all the components built with it so MSI adapts a 22-phase PWM Hybrid Digital Power design (up to 770W output) integrating dual 8-pin CPU and single 6-pin VGA power (adds extra 150W) to ensure power sustenance on the system. The motherboard also follows the MIL-STD-810G military class standard for its components ready for uncompromised usage 24/7 thanks to DrMOS –DrMOS II! Providing new innovation for thermal protection. It’s notable to say the board has a DirectOC feature for easy overclock whenever a user needs more power on the fly.
If you’re interested, sources suggest the Big Bang-XPower II will have its release date by the end of this month with a starting price of £310 ($483).
