MSI MT-V660 Portable Media Player | PMP Specs Review

Posted on 18 December 2009 by pinoytutorial

Taiwanese company, MSI is well renowned for its ultra portable notebooks and netbooks. Also, they are quite aggressive and successful in the development of Portable Media Players (PMP). Recently it has introduced the MT-V660 portable media player. The device is bulky and industrial-looking, having Rockchip chipset RK2806, and a 3.2-inch touch screen 480×320 display, miniUSB, with black and white versions. It supports video formats including MKV, AVI, DivX (3/4/5), XviD, H.264, RMVB/RM, MP4, FLV(H.264/H.263), VOB, MPG, DAT, MOV, 3GP, and MP3, WMA, APE, FLAC, OGG, WAV, AAC audio formats, thus indicating a lot of format support for audio and video as well. It is similar with some features of Microsoft’s Zune HD (Zune HD is another official portable media player) and so claimed to be Zune player’s clone. For now, we give MSI the benefit of the doubt since both companies were known to be successful in developing PMPs in their own rights.

MT-V660’s display screen seems small to enjoy a video playback but it comes with a TV-OUT port to transfer rich media to your large LCD screen. In comparison, the Microsoft’s Zune doesn’t have this facility without using an optional AV dock. The MT-V660 features a “colorful sliding touch UI” with pictures viewer, calendar, calculator, games and eBook reader etc.

Although it has all these wonderful features, there isn’t any announcement about its price tag or public release date of this gadget from the company. The MSI MT-V660 is available in white and black color and based from its features we believe that it has sheer advanced qualities (superior) from other media players.

All in all, MSI definitely has a good taste. We can’t blame the company for nabbing a multitude of  Zune HD stylish elements in the creation of its new product, outside of general moral qualms of course because the results are predictably attractive for the gadget. The real acid test however would be its performance in the market, so we better wait.
