Tablets of different features by different companies had been surfacing lately. At the Computex press conference, two of the biggest computing companies based in Taiwan had come up showing off their own versions of tablets. Their new amazing products is yet available in the market making the other companies like Apple not yet to worry but still their innovations are expected to have some features that the famous iPad lack.
Micro-Star International or MSI is one of Taiwan’s biggest main board and graphic card producers and the company had revealed interesting tablets that we should wait for and one of those is the MSI WindPad 100. The device has a 10 inch capacitive touch display that offers 1024 x 600pixels of resolution somewhat lower than what some expected it to be. The same device is being run by Windows 7 Premium as its operating system and is powered by 1.66GHz Intel Atom Z530 processor joined by 2GB of RAM. It also packs a 32GB SSD and is expected to include webcam, Wireless, Bluetooth, 3G, GPS, USB, HDMI jack that should be able to have 720p video output to an HDTV, and has 8 hours battery life.
Unlike iPad which only has limited capacity, MSI WindPad 100 will be integrated with USB ports, and not just one but 2 USB ports. The company also included a Wind Touch UI layer making it more optimized to be use with the capacitive touch screen. The device also has G-sensor feature for a more responsive use of the screen making it rotate automatically with different body angles for a promising satisfying experiences.
Adding attractiveness and feature is the 5 MSI software integrated in the device such as the Wind Touch UI, taskbar magnifier, EasyFace 2.0, E-Reader, and Easy Us making the Wind Pad really easy to use in both operating interface and application software. It also allows phone calls using Skype and only weighs 1.7 pounds. The device is incredibly light since it is mostly made of plastic.
However, with all the amazing features of this tablet is a downside, although it has a powerful processor, its speed is still questionable even after a few trials, it is observed that few seconds is needed for an application to launch and the Wind Touch UI is really “slow-moving”.
The company had not yet finalized a date for its release or even pricing details. However, the device is expected to reach the market later this year having a price of $499 around US.

Great! Windows 7 on a tablet. Fail! Win7 may have some touch features but a desktop OS on a touch device just would not cut it. Exactly why HP dropped Win7 on it’s slate and replace it with WebOS. When wil they ever learn. They should’ve just used Android.
