We cannot deny the fact that the tablet market continues to grow as the days go by. And for quite some time now, Apple’s iPad has been totally dominating the tablet market ever since it was released. But the iPad’s popularity did not stop some manufacturers into coming with their own tablet. In fact, a lot of tablets from different manufacturers are simultaneously being released in the market lately.

One of the manufacturers that expressed its intention of coming out with a competitive tablet is MSI. Micro-Star International Ltd (MSI) is a Taiwan-based company that deals with the manufacturing of consumer electronics product from notebooks to graphic cards. MSI may not be as popular as other PC manufacturers, but surprisingly the company is actually doing business for about 20 years now and it has been present in the US for around 10 years already.
Little by little MSI is starting to establish a name and capture some market shares. In doing so, MSI is planning to release a few tablets in the near future as shown in the Computex 2010 that was held earlier this year. And one of these tablets is the MSI WindPad 100 which sports a 10.1 inch touchscreen display, runs with an Intel Atom Z530 processor and a Windows 7 operating system.
Aside from the above-mentioned features the MSI WindPad 100 Tablet also includes the following specs:
- 2 GB RAM
- 32 GB solid state drive
- Dock connectivity: Two USB 2.0 ports, LAN, VGA, HDMI, audio ports
- 1.6 GHz Atom Z5230 processor
- Wind Touch UI overlay
- Windows 7 Home Premium
Aside from its full-featured companion dock, the key specifications announced in the Computex 2010 stayed the same. The companion dock seems to make the MSI WindPad 100 even more useful with the inclusion of various ports. It also comes with a power input that clearly indicates that the dock will double as a charging station for this device.

Overall, the MSI WindPad 100 seems to offer a pretty good set of specs and special features that make it a best value for your money. Like other PC vendors MSI is very hopeful that it will be able to take some market share from Apple’s iPad with its WindPad 100 Tablet.
The MSI WindPad 100 is expected to carry a retail price of around $ 499, although as of this time, there is no information yet regarding its updated price and release date. However, the MSI WindPad 100 is expected to have one more appearance at the IFA 2010 to be held in Berlin by next month. So we might hear more information about this upcoming tablet.
