Cisco and Telia is aiming to break it previous Dreamhack record by coming up with the fastest internet connection, which is expected to attract around 20,000 participants. This project is a result of the effort of a team consisting of 50 people from Cisco, Telia and Dreamhack. Apparently, these people have been working on this project since last summer in order to come up with the perfect design and infrastructure for the world’s fastest internet connection and the good news is that all the equipment are now in place and undergoing a few more tests.
The record breaking ceremony will be held at the opening ceremony of the Dreamhack Conference that will take place on November 24. Dreamhack is a Swedish festival that is well-recognized by the Guinness Book of Records as the world’s largest LAN party. All the participants during the said event are expected to take advantage of this fastest internet connection ever and the organizers of the said event are very much confident that they will be able to break their previous records. The previous Dreamhack record is only 20 gigabits so the 120 gigabits is really fast.
This is definitely the first time that a fast internet connection such as this one has been set-up within a distance of 300 km that can accommodate around 750,000 people and allow them to stream music at the same time. In addition to this, downloading a movie is also faster as well. Imagine how many movies you can download a day considering the fact that a movie can be downloaded in a 47 thousandths of a second. Dreamhack seems to give us an idea of what the future holds for internet connectivity and from the way we see it, it seems that internet connection will be faster and faster as the days go by.
This is such great news to a lot of people especially those who regularly browse the internet and download applications. Apparently, the total value of the equipment used for this Dreamhack Conference is around $ 45 million. So what can you say about this project? Watch out for more updates.
