Have you ever felt that you’re just getting used to a certain gadget when, suddenly, you hear rumors that the company is creating a new one (more or less, its successor)? Then you’re not alone because we feel the same way with iPad 2. We’re just getting used to its thinness and its great features when suddenly, we hear rumors that iPad 3 is on the works. Yes, Apple is not stopping despite Steve Jobs leaving us because they feel they have to make more iPads to compete with other new tablets out there.
One of the rumors about the iPad 3 is that the company is still contemplating if they will give it a LED backlit display or now, although production on the high-resolution displays has begun. Then there is the rumor that iPad 3’s new hardware can consist of either two separate LED light bars or just a single LED backlight that has two chips.
But the main detail in the iPad 3 is having a QXGA, 2048×1536 display – which is more advanced than the iPad or iPad 2. The QXGA (Quad eXtended Graphics Array) screen has 4 times as many pixels as that of an XGA display, which is estimated at 3.2 million pixels and has a 4:3 aspect ratio. It is said to be the highest non-experimental, non-widescreen resolution and is perfect for users who need extreme details in their screens or want to have multiple images on a single screen without sacrificing the performance of the gadget. And as a result a thicker bezel would be needed on the new iPad, specifically 0.7mm thicker than the iPad 2. Three suppliers had been named to provide the new panel Samsung, LGD and Sharp.
These are the rumored details of the iPad 3 so far though, as mentioned above, production on the displays have begun. So better make the most out of your iPad 2 because there’s a possibility that the unveiling of the iPad 3 will be on December of this year. Stay tuned.
