If you look at a mobile handset or smartphone, you’ll notice the bar that looks like a bar with edges on it. That’s the space bar. And that’s what MySpace is using as a new Company logo. Take a look at it.

It somehow evokes a feeling that you have to fill in the blanks. My-what-now?

Mike Macadaan, MySpace VP of User Experience has this to say: “MySpace is a platform for people to be whatever they want, so we’ve decided to give them the space to do it.”
Pretty catchy concept, but it I still get the feeling that you can fill in the blank. And that’s what MySpace actually wants you to do. You can create artwork and other things in order to fill up that space. Which is yours. Hence, MySpace. Ah… pretty clever, I see what you did there.
Here’s a YouTube video of the presentation about the new change of logo:
Cleverness and genius artsy designing aside, a Google Doodle-like interactive feature will be available once the MySpace redesign launches at the end of this year. Although changing slogans can be effective marketing to revive a dying scene, it doesn’t change the fact that MySpace is still in the throes of its last stages of company cancer. Other Social Networks are bigger, better and have more users today than they did a decade ago. As one commenter puts it: Only 2 characters left and MySpace will be out from internet!
