Do you know that online gambling is now legal in the US? We all know for a fact that online gambling has been very much prevalent nowadays and because of this there are some people who would like to make it legal. Well, it seems that their prayers were already answered two days before Christmas. US President Barack Obama has just declared that all form of intra-state internet gambling is legal under federal law. This only means that online gamblers out there may play their favorite online gambling game interstate and even internationally.

President Barack Obama made this declaration based on the Justice Department’s re-interpretation of the Wire Act of 1961. As reinterpreted, online lotteries and poker may be poised to become legal. This announcement might be the biggest present that the Department of Justice and President Barrack Obama has ever given to the online gambling community out there. This re-interpretation actually happened because of the inquiry made by Illinois and New York about the use of the internet and out-of-state transaction processors to sell lottery tickets to in-state adults. DOJ has already cleared out that the Wire Act only pertains to sport-related gambling activities or races.

If you still remember, the legality of the online gaming made by Senator Jon Kyl and Senate Majority Lead Harry Reid is being questioned by many. And to clear this issue Assistant Attorney General Ronald Weich announced that online gambling is legal. People have different reactions to these announcements. Some agreed to make online gambling legal, but there are also some that do not think that it is necessary to make it legal.

However, Assistant Attorney General Ronald Weich also emphasized that the New Wire Act of 1961 will now focus on online gambling operators who will violate other existing state or federal anti-gambling laws. This will surely be good news to for other states who are considering the legalization of intra-state poker and other games. Well, it seems that the rise of online gambling has made the interpretation of the Wire Act of 1961 a significant issue that should be cleared up.

It is quite difficult to understand the impact of this legalization, but it seems that the states now have the ability to legalize online gambling without violating any Federal Law. So what do you think about it?
