I know this can’t be helped, but if you happened to be a Nexus One user who’s waiting dearly for the arrival of Gingerbread on your smartphone, you can call today as your D-day as Google officially unleashes the Android 2.3.3 OTA update! Take note, this one is going to be available on Nexus S as well to solve that annoying “data-loss” bug we’ve reported before.
This upgrade is expected to go around for a couple of days this week so there’s a big possibility that some may still haven’t receive this, especially if you are living outside USA – but believe me, it will arrive!
For those who are wondering what are the goodies going to be included on this update? The main feature is enabling total access to the NFC capability of the Nexus S (not just read) whereas it’s possible that the Android market will be unleashing NFC-related apps to finally give users an idea of what this fuzz is really about. Also, pundits are predicting this NFC update will blossom out to a new type of “bump-to-payment” system which some of you may already be familiar with the Bump application.
Interestingly, Nexus One and Nexus S would also receive the first-ever WebM support, which is the Open-Video format launched by Google last year targeting a new type of video codec for a variety of usage.
There will be some other subtle features for this update like improvement in texting, widget interface and overall speed for your smartphone. So get this update ASAP!
