We all know that the balls are always bouncing back to the court of BIG G’s stadium now that they have unveiled the currently yet ‘most powerful android phone’ for mankind. Frankly, I really don’t care if its the super-phone / not the iphone killer /other grandioso term you can think off, etc. As long as it does the job right for the users who had their hopes really high ever since this device was leaked from the inner-nest of twiter. So here’s the latest buzz-es that happened for the past 36 hours. Let’s start with the glitch.
Google Support Forums Bombarded with Nexus One 3G Problems
Nothing makes the day complete, than to see your newly bought phone (perhaps, 4 days old) getting an early 3G network problem. Problem: It appears majority of the users have a hindrance on switching their Nexus One to 3G or it doesn’t switch at all. While some constantly receives switching of their Nexus unit to 3G to EDGE simultaneously. To extend the glitch, other users posted that in some spot 3G coverage seems to be excellent while it yields the opposite on some area. Engadget manage to get hold with a feedback by Mr. Andy Rubin about the problem (Android Chief developer) saying “we have to get better at customer service” – perhaps that’s his simple way of saying, “don’t pressure us folks, relax.. we are well aware of the situation okay?”.
Speaking of Rubin’s opinion, here’s a little excerpt extracted about his thoughts of the Nexus One sans the multitouch feature. A teaser question was asked to him.
“You call this a superphone — 3.7-inch capacitive display, but no keyboard and no multitouch. Yet it has multitouch outside the US. Why not America?”
Andy’s reply:
“It’s not an America versus outside America kind of thing. It’s a decision that is a result of the OEM model. I personally don’t like two-handed operations… there is no conspiracy.”
If you can recall, the Nexus one HTC european version already has a multitouch on its debut – Peculiarly, the US version doesn’t have one? Well, at least now we know, the reason of this non-conspiracy issue said by the android chief. Is it your personal preference Mister Rubin, that’s why the ‘superphone’ doesn’t have a multitouch yet? – Obviously, majority of users have a different kind of preference aside from yours.
Nexus One Tethered? Infused with a new ROM
Okay let’s head to Nexus One on steroids having more steroids – I mean getting overclocked by 24/7 android geeks. A forumer named ‘modaco’ from xda-developers, manages to impress fellow geeks and maybe some ‘normal’ nexus one users by already having a new custom ROM for the smartphone. Some of the added features are. The Nano 2.09 text editor, wireless tether, Titanium Backup, Busybox 1.15.3, and some minor tweaks that you may want to see.
Oh btw, one thing that I know about cooking your own ROM is just make sure you ‘really’ know what you’re doing and not just the ‘feeling you know it’ type because again, xda-dev guys don’t guarantee 100% success with your upgraded ROM. You may cook it the wrong way and before you know it, Nexus One is saying “Hasta La Vista beybeh to you” kissing that 529.99 USD goodbye.
Nexus One Total Hardware Cost is only 174.15 USD
Is this something really surprising? I mean, when the price of Nexus was predicted to be on the minty 300 USD and now seeing it skyrocketing to $530 – There’s just this gut feeling telling you that Google is really having their own gift horse releasing this smartphone to us. The breakdown of price is as follow: Costliest of all things was the 1GHz Snapdragon ($30.50), followed by the AMOLED display ($23.50) and memory ($20.40) from Samsung. Still interested? Get the details on iSuppli
Guys let’s have a math 101 now, shall we? 530 – 174 = 356 .. now multiply it, with the users, future users who have already/will get this phone. The product will be BIG G getting more BIGGER indeed. Like I said on the google opinions, if you’re a bit practical and not too itchy to get this ‘superphone’ yet, you can wait for 6 months and expect the price of this nexus one model to plummet.
The Nexus One Opinion that you haven’t been waiting for to see.
(That is If you love you Nexus One too much)
Now here’s something you may want to see before you sleep today (if you’re an iPhone enthusiast) This is about an opinion by a well refuted blogsite in the techdustry. Beware, this one is really subjective and if you have been so into the Nexus One bubble or fell deeply in love with the android craze then prepare your gas-mask for you might be smothered with the anti-android/anti-nexus one smoke reading his article.
We don’t have any comments with his opinion. I am just suprise, on how BGR still get this thing out of his lungs, considering that his blog consists of Nexus One fanatics as well. MMkay, I’m sure he is a little bit busy replying on the comments being thrown now.
As for us, we’ll keep you guys posted with the Nexus Strike. Bleep!
