When it rain, it pours! And while the blockbuster event of Google and Samsung already ended yesterday, some pundits manage to ask questions about the future of other phones in terms of receiving Ice Cream Sandwich.
As you can see, Galaxy Nexus was the only phone revealed specifically that will be blessed by the new OS. Traditionally, this move is nothing new as Google always do this to all of its child devices beginning with Nexus One and Nexus S. Likewise, Google’s Gabe Cohen confirms Samsung Nexus S will be able to grab the chocolatey sandwich update soon. As noted, all Android devices running Gingerbread (2.3) should also be able to support ICS in general.
Of course, this is a good news for majority of users since we all know Gingerbread is the new emerging platform for all green devices. However, what about those units stock on Froyo or Éclair? As we all know, the new platform is said to be the “unifier” of all Android devices and we have that perception it should be available on old devices. Hopefully, when Big G said that line, it was pertaining not only to roboto but ICS compatibility with legacy phones as well.
Anyway, now that the SDK for Android 4.0 is now available for developers, we should expect its arrival a few weeks from now.
