After Nintendo’s alleged battle with Sony, there are a few sources that say Apple is the company’s newest rival. The company’s going all out on its gadgets after it has suffered a major setback when there was a decline in the profits. Because of this unfortunate turnaround of events, Nintendo is throwing caution to the wind and is now trying to size up its competition.
The President of Nintendo, Satoru Iwata has stated that the battle with Sony should be dismissed as it is already a win for them. Now, their newest perceived threats are Apple’s iPad and iPhone.
The company’s preconceived notion about this is in a way, premature. There was an increase in the sales of Wii consoles last Christmas than the Playstation3. Yet, there are several game analysts who project Sony as having a big enough base of fans to not make any names for the Nintendo gadget.
Both Sony and Microsoft are slowly making their way and are successfully trying to get in the gaming department which was once dominated by Nintendo. Now, they have become part of the competition that Nintendo would like to take down.
Nintendo’s main focus nowadays is making devices which are suited not only for the young generation, but also for those adult male game enthusiasts, and even of the entire family. A few years back, the company has claimed that they have changed the demographic of video games and added school girls and adolescent men ages 30-40. But they all commented that they would rather have iPhones than carry a DS along with them.
Last year, Nintendo has suffered financial problems and setbacks, but the company’s trying to get back up on its feet again. iPhone is a good gadget, if it stays a phone and nothing else.
Yes, Nintendo used to dominate the gaming world. I remember spending lots of time trying to save Super Mario’s girlfriend. Yet now, there are several companies who are after the title this gaming giant has been holding for quite a long time. Sony has been trying to up its game with the playstations, but has recently failed because of the release of Wii. Nintendo, you shouldn’t get that worried. You’re still number one in gaming for me.
