Right after Stephen Elop (CEO, Nokia) spilled the beans about his thoughts about Symbian and MeeGo as a “Burning Platform”, pundits were already expecting that the earlier rumor mills of Nokia partnering with Windows to launch a Nokia Windows Phone 7 powered device were all for real. And just in case you are still shocked with the news, Elop and Ballmer have officially sealed in the deal and here’s how the partnership breaks down.

I would go straight on the core-details but for those of you who want to get the whole report, get it here.
So apparently, Elop confirms that Nokia’s financial profit for last year was a nightmare shrunk into an all-time low of 31% profit loss and their almighty Symbian was finally beaten by Android as the most popular mobile operating system in the world. Obviously, Elop’s new strategy involving Microsoft is his grandiose way of battling out with the Apple iOS and Google’s Android.
The main changes about the deal is, Nokia’s utilization of the Windows Phone 7 platform for its primary OS on the development of its future smartphones. Meaning, Symbian and MeeGo would act as an auxiliary mobile systems only whereas it would still be updated but not as the core foundation of Nokia anymore.
In addition to that, Nokia and Microsoft are planning to capture volumes and growth to connect “the next billion” to the internet and developing markets with new goals on investing next-generation “disruptive” technologies and new leadership to adhere speed and reliability on this new venture. This transition would happen for 2011-2012 and expect to see some new “Nokia WP7″ devices floating around the market later this year.
The bottom factor? Nokia and Microsoft would start to push themselves over the limits on unleashing some ground-breaking results towards their mobile devices through cultivation of new technologies and proper marketing strategy in hopes to bet at par with the Apple iOS / Android.
If you’ll ask my opinion, there’s some truth with what Vic Gundotra (VP, Google) tweeted that “Two Turkeys do not make an Eagle” if you are merely pertaining to small time petty companies but Nokia and Microsoft? – Those two companies are huge!
Let’s see how this one plays out.
