Its a big day at the industry as Canon, Motorola and B&N have announced each of their products going up for the big sales event happening this month until the holidays. So just in case you missed the Nook train earlier today, you should know insiders already leaked the Nook Tablet (more popularly known as Nook Color 2) which is the company’s first flagship device going toe-to-toe against Amazon’s Kindle Fire.
So far, its specifications flaunt a dual-core 1.2GHz dual-core TI OMAP4 CPU all under its 7-inch VividView IPS colored display with 1024×600 resolution. It comes with a 0.48-inch thin form factor, 1GB RAM, 1GB internal storage with expandable microSD slot and similar with Amazon’s Fire tablet, this one don’t include any camera at all. Meanwhile, its other goodies include WiFi support, e-reading support for different file extension (ePub, PDF, XLS, DOC, PPT, DOCM, JPG) including Flash, MP4 and MP3 for your listening pleasure. So far, the company states it can last up to eight hours – that is – if you’re not browsing anything because if you do, it’ll be reduced to half.
As pundits suggest, the device is very similar with Nook Color. In fact, it can do everything what the colored e-reader does asking why should we jump for this brand? Well, if you’ll ask me, its all about the cost-efficiency factor. The tablet now has a current price of $249 which is $50 more expensive than the new price Nook Color ($199) but that is understandable since it packs a high-end dual core CPU with 1GB RAM.
Perhaps B&N was aiming this tablet for customers who are dreaming of a more high-end nook device. If you’re interested, you can pre-order this on November 7 (Monday) and expect its availability on retailers a week after that.
