If you had been looking for such a speedy notebook graphics card, well looks like this will be today. Announced by Nvidia today is its said to be world’s fastest notebook GPU, the GeForce GTX 480M. The said chip combines some of the most advanced technologies making it not only fast but also capable for having a life gaming graphics.
The new GeForce GTX 480M GPU is the first to provide notebook users to experience DirectX11. This is attributed to the Tessellation engine provided by this chip which is a true monster for the notebook platform. It offers keen Tessellation engine for up to 5x more performance that the competition. It will also be the first to bring the next-gen Cuda architecture or Fermi to notebooks.
It promises three times more NVIDIA CUDA cores over other Notebook’s GPU. This feature would speed up video transcoding, updating from standard to high definition, and also with movie clean-up. It also not only delivers the world’s best gaming frame rates but also sports added features that cant be seen in other GPU’s. These includes NVIDIA 3D Vision technology for a sure immersive gaming moment, NVIDIA PhysX technology for a dynamic interactive environments bringing games into life, and NVIDIA Verde Notebook Drivers for the most up to date performance from your notebooks.
The chip will be having 352 CUDA cores and a 256 bit memory interface that can pack up to 2GB of GDDR5 RAM. It will also have 480M’s 897 gigaflops gracing its predecessors 413 for an almighty tessellation performance. Its processor Clock will be working in 850 MHz and texture fill rate of 18.7 billion/sec. It is to have a Maximum Digital Resolution of 2560×1600 and Maximum VGA Resolution of 2048×1536 pixels. It also seems that the manufacturer had solves its problems for heat seen in GEForce GTX 480, the desktop version of the card.
The chip is expected to arrive middle of next month. No pricing details had been elaborated by the company. But it is known that the chip Nvidia is partnering with Clevo to introduce the first system based on GeForce GTX 480.
