When it comes to graphic cards, NVIDIA and AMD are definitely two of the names that you can trust. Well, previously the battle is between ATI and NVIDIA, but after AMD has acquired ATI, it becomes AMD vs. NVIDIA.

Well, this seems to be a very interesting battle between two companies that are specializing in the manufacture of graphic processor units and chipset technologies for workstations. And as AMD unveiled its powerful Radeon HD 6990 just recently, there are some ongoing rumors that NVIDIA is currently working on a similar dual-GPU card that is expected to rival this new GPU from AMD and apparently this GPU that we are talking about is none other than the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 590.
Basically, the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 590 will be coming out with a 12-layer 2-oz copper printed circuit board (PCB) that was designed with a 10-phase power layout. In addition to this, the GTX 590 also comes with dual vapor chambers, 3 GB of GDDR5 memory (1.5 GB per GPU) and a PCIe dual x16 custom bridge chip as well. And since it is a dual-GPU card it has of course two GF110 GPUs with a total 1024 (2 x 512) CUDA cores.

The NVIDIA GeForce GTX 590 will be much bigger than the GTX 560 Ti and will also be NVIDIA’s first dual-GPU card as well since the GeForce GTX 295 that was released in 2009. In addition to this, the NVIDIA 11-inch package will also be featuring a removable cover that will allow for easy cleaning and maintenance. It is also expected to come up with three DVI ports, 3D Vision Surround and a dual-slot center-fan design that blows the air to the GPUs seated on the left and right.
This new GTX 590 is rumored to start shipping on March 22. However, NVIDIA has not yet released any final information yet as to its price and official specs as of the moment. The AMD Radeon HD 690 which the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 590 hopes to take on is currently priced at $ 699 so we are expecting that NVIDIA will be coming out with a price range near that point. So watch out for more details.
