In the wake of the smartphone and tablet wars, it’s obvious the power not only comes from the company who markets the device but rather, to those who create the core hardware parts to make that specific product rise among its competitors.
At the dawn of this year, it appears Qualcomm isn’t the only mobile chip company who’s dominating its given field. Just like what the earlier prediction of critiques suggest, NVIDIA is on the verge of turning their GPU-centric company into a mobile-based CPU manufacturer as well producing some highly-competitive products like the Nvidia Tegra-2 dual-core processor we’ve seen utilized by a lot of super Android tablets this year.

As of today, our first report about the “Nvidia Tegra-3” quad core chip is now confirmed to become the reality and it will go in a production named as Kal-El. Coming from a recently finished NVIDIA presentation at the MWC, it’s announced this monstrous CPU will support specs like 2560 x 1440 stream for development device (from a 1366 x 768 native resolution) which is connected to a 30-inch 2560 x 1600 external monitor and the testers saw it’s running flawlessly.
Nvidia Tegra Roadmap 2010-2014

Interestingly, engadget saw the chip run a 720p HD display while playing Great Battles Medieval with 650 enemy soldiers in which its little brother, Tegra 2, got slowed down upon the test but the Tegra 3 remains strong. In addition to that, the company claims this new technology will bring more efficient battery life lasting up to 12 hours of intense usage.
Expect the NVIDIA Kal-EL Quad Core processor to be release on Q4 of this year.
