Tired of toggling your laptop from the IGP to GPU software or vice versa every time you use it? How you wish that somebody can do something about it so that it will be automatic because you tend to forget switching from one software to the other.
Well technology nowadays is so advance I bet that sooner or later someone will be able to innovate on your laptop fancies. Oh wait, I guess it is no sooner or later for you but a now! Yes it is a now, NVIDIA has launched project Optimus the one that will put an end to your toggling.
Now this one doesn’t involve Intel at anypoint but Optimus will work perfectly fine with Intel’s 2010 processors which is Intel I-Series also known as the Quad Core. It will also work with Pineview Atom platform with NVIDIA’s GeForce 200M series, GeForce 300M series, next-gen Ion GPU’s and next-gen GeForce M. The first computing device infused with NVIDIA Optimus will be coming from ASUS and will hit the market this coming March. The Optimus equipped laptop from Asus will be the following; N61Jv, N82Jv, N71Jv, U30Jc and UL50Vf and we are guessing the price of each lappie will play around $850-$1000.
Now let me just inform you that the switching process is automatic so that means that the computer will be the one deciding on when to switch from the NVIDIA discrete GPU to Intel integrated graphics or the other way around. Example is if you launch an application such as 3D games, play a video or the like the laptop will be using the NVIDIA discreet GPU and when you are just doing basic task such as word processing, emailing or simply web surfing the Intel integrated graphics processor will be the one chosen by you lappie.
So basically you can expect a laptop that is NVIDIA Optimus equipped to deliver 10 times more performance than the usual computing device. Optimus will seamlessly change from one processor to the other without interfering from what you are doing. Now that’s real computer experience optimization.
