One particular app missing on the iPhone is Google’s GMail. Since the original iPhone rendition was released in 2007 several third-party applications were introduced, except for GMail. Now, it seems that everything will change as Google is rumored to be on the “verge of releasing a native iOS app” for its email service.
The news came from “several sources” as pointed by M.G. Siegler on his blog, adding that the launch of the said GMail app is “imminent”. Several iPhone users who currently have GMail accounts will be thrilled upon hearing this news. The app was thought to be submitted to Apple for review – and most likely it will get approved.
Apparently, some individuals had already seen what the app would look like and noted that it looked “pretty fantastic and Awesome”. That’s a pretty interesting statement which remains to be proven until we see it for real. Still, some people might wonder what could be the reason to have anĀ iOS app when a mobile web version for GMail is already existing?
Among other things, the new app will present several features not present in the mobile version including push notifications, one-click starring of messages, Priority Inbox, contact icons, deep searching functionality and better threading. It’s also possible that a Google+ integration will be seen in the new app.
