Apparently, there has been a considerable decline in Apple’s sales of their workstations with a starting price of $2,499. As such, the company’s executives have taken into consideration whether it is favorable to further invest in this product line. Moreover, according to recent reports, Apple has officially ended the production of their White MacBook units. The company was previously reported to have removed the white MacBook from their lineup last year with which their line of MacBook Air dominated as the company’s entry-level notebook. Nonetheless, Apple has kept the white MacBook to be provided for educational opportunities among schools and their students.

As Apple lists down their sales numbers by product category, it was noted that the company found strength in the MacBook Air along with the MacBook Pro. While these two devices were said to account for 74% of Apple’s sales in the fourth quarter of 2011, the desktop sales were led by the Apple iMac and not the Mac Pro. Apple had last made improvements to their Mac Pro line in July of 2010, increasing the processing power to up to 12 cores and utilizing graphics cards of faster speed rates.
All in all, it can be said that the desktop sales have not been as high as when Apple released the first design of the Mac Pro in 2003. Although the Mac hardware sales have undergone considerable growth, the company’s notebooks have mostly caught the attention of the public as they have exceeded Apple’s sales of desktop computers way back in 2004. Interestingly, these same notebook units have recently been threatened by the company’s iPad line which surpassed Mac sales in 2011.
