How long does it take for a company to release a patch on a newly launched software? Well, in the case of Apple and its newly fangled OS X Lion (10.7) the answer is “a week” –- sort of.
You see, the OS X Lion 10.7.2 beta is only meant for developers and it was rolled today so any bugs found for the OS will be flattened out. Aside from that, Apple is also planning to pre-release the iCloud and integrate it on the new platform before IOS 5’s official launch this fall. Likewise, when iCloud is announced along with the next-generation iPhone and iOS 5, Mac users are required to take the latest update for OS X Lion at that time to be able to use iCloud and all its cloud-based storage and music matching features.
Interestingly, those developers who have already taken this update said the “Mail, Contacts and Calendars” option on the OS X Control Panel have this optiont for the iCloud enabling users to choose what data will be specifically sent or synced in the cloud –something that Steve Jobs announced on his keynote at the WWDC event last month.
Hopefully, September will be another milestone release for Apple, unveiling the iPhone 5, iCloud, iOS 5 and the latest update for OS X Lion which should fix some of the minor bugs we’ve seen last week.
