Have you turned on your television set and watched the latest rumor that shook the technological industry? If you have, then you have an idea of what this is about. If your head is up in the clouds and you haven’t watched the news, then read on. Palm is searching for a buyer and that the offers will come soon! Bloomberg has announced this on the news. Some people were shocked and the rest tried to figure out which company would buy it out.
This news shocked fans and critics alike since it was only a couple of days ago that CEO Jon Rubinstein was resolute that Palm was on its way to earning a large profit despite the rumors that the company is broke and they’re selling out stocks. It was also mentioned on the news that Palm has employed the help of Goldman Sachs and Qatalyst Partners to find a reasonable buyer—HTC and Lenovo expressing interest, but Dell has passed on this chance. When questioned though, the parties mentioned above haven’t said anything to deny or confirm the rumors.
This issue has been debated on and discussed by analysts and potential buyers alike. Which of the big named companies would be worthy enough to own and benefit from Sunnyvale’s finest? The short list of which includes HTC, the company which seems to be the perfect match for Palm. With a fantastic hardware and a software that’s extraordinary, what could go wrong? How about Lenovo which doesn’t have a smart phone credibility?
Buying Palm would definitely give it a kick start in this arena. Another company is RIM. Though, this is just sort of a fantasy because Blackberry is a fast becoming favorite and this company wouldn’t seem to risk putting Blackberry in the hands of Sunnyvale’s best. Those who are on the list but are not the best candidates include Apple, Nintendo, HP, Microsoft, Google, Sony, Nokia and Motorola. Each one of these companies might benefit from Palm’s creative ideas and concepts. But as of this time, it is a wait and see period.
Based on the news and the information that are overflowing on the web, I couldn’t say which one of the aforementioned companies would buy out Palm. There are lots of factors and things to be taken into account yet it would just depend on the business tactics and on the vision of the company. Whatever the outcome of this issue, people and tech-geeks alike will definitely be on the lookout!
