Gone are the days when you have to punish yourself lugging around seven to eight pounds of laptop in exchange for its ruggedness. Most notebooks today are designed as thin and light devices. But for those who are clamoring for toughness, you might want to check out the 10-inch Panasonic Toughbook 19.

A year ago since it was unveiled, you can still see the prominent silver and magnesium allow chassis with the company’s logo stamped on the lid and black bumpers on its sides. While the notebook remains tough with the materials used for its casing, it remains fairly portable weighing for about 5 pounds because of its relatively small 10.4 inch display. And much like other rugged notebooks, Toughbook 19 is dust, water and vibration resistant.
The recently released unit of this notebook convertible tablet has received a bunch of valid upgrades such as increased RAM and hard drive capacities and brighter screen. A 4 GB RAM and 320 GB 7200 rpm hard drive will now come with it plus an option to include 128 GB and 256 GB SSDs.
Beneath the tough exterior, it is powered by Intel Core i5-2520M standard voltage processor with Intel HD 3000 graphics that enables it to have a slightly faster startup time for about 20 % compared to the earlier releases. The upgraded Panasonic Toughbook 19 will begin shipping this September for a hefty price of $3,349.
