Playstation 3 point 5 that is.
With current console wars that way it is, Sony has pulled a little something to extend the life cycle of the PlayStation 3 to tide over the wait for the Playstation 4. This is actually a good plan for them since this will enable Sony to recoup their losses since the beginning of their PS3 crusade.
A new patent filed by Sony is hinting that a new processor will be released as an upgrade to the PS3 without actually producing the PlayStation 4. What is known as the “PS3 External Processor” may be a plug-and-play device that will aid the aging cell processor that is used in current gen PS3 consoles. The US Air-force would be the biggest customer for this one methinks.
This patent was filed last August and has just been recently published. This could all mean that there is no actual device yet, and is only still in the planning stages.
What’s interesting to note is that EA Chief Creative Officer Rich Hilleman predicted last year that there will be a Playstation 3.5 before the coming of the Playstation 4. So what do you think? Yea or Nay to the external processor?
