Sony seems to be making really big announcements lately. First of these announcements is its upcoming PlayStation Vita and the second one is its announcement regarding its official carrier. In the US, PlayStation Vita’s official carrier network will be none other than AT&T, but for Europe Sony has just announced that Vodafone will be the official partner of Sony’s PlayStation Vita’s 3G services. Countries such as UK, Ireland, Germany, Spain, Portugal, Australia, New Zealand and Netherlands will be among the first countries to be included in this offer.

This new handheld console that comes with 3G and Wi-Fi compatibility will be sold in selected countries together with the Vodafone SIM card. Interested consumers out there may be able to pick up this console via various Vodafone outlets as well as online. The availability of this new console will give users out there the opportunity to enjoy social gaming straight away out of the box. In addition to this, customers will also get a PlayStation Network voucher in order to download WipEout 2048 from the PlayStation store.
In the US, AT&T will be offering the PlayStation Vita exclusively in the market. So if you want 3G connectivity, you need to sign up for an AT&T contract. However, in its European version, things are quite different. Even if it has been announced that Vodafone will be the official carrier of the PlayStation Vita in Europe, 3G connectivity will not be locked to Vodafone alone because it has also enabled other networks as well.

Sony’s partnership with Vodafone will enable PlayStation Vita users in the selected countries mentioned above to be always connected with their PlayStation life, friends and favorite games wherever they are. The 3G system will cost you around cost $299 in the US, €299 in mainland Europe and £279 in the UK. Contract details will be announced by Vodafone later or before the PlayStation Vita launches in Europe in February.
Well, it seems that the Sony Playstation Vita is going anywhere in the world. First, in the US and now in Europe, so there is absolutely no excuse why we can’t enjoy the PlayStation Vita’s wide range of social networking features , games and applications.
