Now that more and more users are browsing the internet, page load speed has become a more critical factor. Thus, it is imperative (for webmasters) to optimize their website (desktop and mobile) to provide visitors with a more enjoyable online experience.

Strangeloop, a company that specializes in optimizing website loading speed, provides a free optimization and analysis report for website owners. Once you enter their site, what you need to do is enter the URL of the website you desire to optimize. Strangeloop will ask for other information and may require 3 days before full report can be submitted. Several big site owners like Amazon and AOL had mentioned the effect of providing faster page loads to their visitors. That is, more pageviews and greater revenues.

The company had also provided a cool infographic about this topic:

Meanwhile, you might be interested to know that Google has released an experimental tool called Page Speed Online. The tool could be used to quickly assess the overall page load performance of a website – which also applies to mobile-optimized sites. You only have to enter the URL of your site and the system will provide score and suggestions – based on your site’s loading speeds. The suggestions are broken down to High, Medium and Low priority. The online tool suggests that you focus on High priority first before the latter two.

There are several ways to make your site faster. One of which is to switch to a better hosting account (dedicated server/VPS, for example). You can also hire a professional to tweak your site for areas that need to be optimized. All in all, providing a faster and better site nowadays can be the key to garner more visitors and keep them for a long time.

What say you?
