Okay, boys and gals we have some good and bad news for you. And it depends entirely on what gadget you have, if this one will come as a pleasant surprise or not.
Remember, that ground-breaking PS3 jailbreak via USB which was leaked a couple of weeks ago? Well, it turns out that it came out with many variations. Just like that open-source technique we had this week, wherein you don’t need to go and pay as much as 170 USD just to jailbreak your PS3 – Provided that you have some knowledge on circuit-board and USB programming.
The next one, just came recently today, and it’s still about Jailbreaking your PS3 but with the use of a Nokia N900 or Palm Pre only – Which could come as a great news if you have these type of smartphones on your bed already.
All the tutorial is quite similar to the extent that instead of buying those OzMod chips or trying to build your own USB-jailbreaker from scratch. You will use your smartphone as the USB to hack-in the PS3.

Okay here’s the bad news, and this is somewhat predictable judging from the impending legal-issues this new hack is facing. Coming from BBC, it was said that Australia had totally ban all imports of these precious OzMod USB dongles after a recent court-hearing was in favor of treating this ‘new technology’ as piracy to the PS3 console.
The Australia ban prevents resellers OzModChips, ModSupplier and Quantronics from importing or distributing the device in Australia, and names the supplier as Chinese firm China Sun Trading Limited.
While it’s a dream for the majority to wake-up one day and play games on their PS3 at a cheaper cost, this one is obviously bad for the economics of Sony. Certainly, you can be sure that these type of hacks will pass like a needle to a thread. On the brighter side, the fact that these hacks is now possible using Symbian / Web OS powered phones, it may not be that long before we see that first android phone to jailbreak a PS3.
