Apple has just unveiled the iPhone 4s just recently and one of the things that caught the attention of its audience is that this smartphone model does not have an NFC feature or Near Field Communication. A lot of people have expected that this feature will be included in the said phone, but the recent announcement of the iPhone 4S did not even mention the inclusion of it. FYI, NFC is a short range wireless technology that usually supports current and planned mobile systems. Even if Apple did not include it in the iPhone 4S, perhaps we could hope that it will come in future iPhone versions, say the iPhone 5.

Now, here is the big question, are you willing to buy the iPhone 4S even if it lacks NFC? Well, as most analysts said, the lack of this feature in the iPhone 4S is not expected to have a significant effect on the sales. Even if there are some reports that the NFC technology is starting to heat up and that around 35 million handsets featuring the said technology will be shipped this year, Apple is still confident that the iPhone 4S will make it good in the market.
However, an analyst at the Forrester Research named Charles Golvin said that if Apple announced that the said iPhone model includes such technology, then, it could have jump-started the industry and even start a tough competition among different smartphone manufacturers worldwide. Apple has been well-known in enhancing user experience in every smartphone model that it releases and its decision not to offer this new technology in the iPhone 4S must have some reasons. This also gives the impression that the consumers are not yet ready for the adoption of this technology. Apple and the rest of the manufacturers definitely have plenty of time for this.
At present, there are already some companies introducing their own NFC-enabled payment systems like Google who has come out with the Google Wallet. Other companies especially the leading device manufacturers like Samsung, HTC, Motorola, RIM and Sony Ericsson might also be preparing the adoption of this new technology in their future devices. Stay tuned for more updates.
