Aside from the Great Wall – not that firewall, enthusiasts visit China to find weird and quirky gadgets even those that are fake. Call it passion or just that feeling of being curious, the Red country became popular around the world on selling these stuffs. Heck, Apple is even having problem selling its iPad on the country because of these things.
Well, if you want to see something bizarre, a company called Hongpaiyihao is selling a 9.7-inch Android tablet powered by Tegra 2. Sounds like your ordinary device? Yes, that’s what we think until we saw at its price forking out 10K Yuan equivalent to $1,590! For what? Aside from its Tegra-2 dual-core CPU, Android 3.2 Honeycomb platform and all those standard innards you normally see on tablets (e.g: camera, external storage, etc.), the RedPad comes with these Pro-China apps and “made for the Chinese government features” believed to be a cheap marketing strategy of the company of fooling the noses out from customers who are hypnotized with all those patriotic words imbued on the tablet, even on the box before purchase.
Making things even worse, there’s a lot of inconsistencies with the product’s specification viewed from its website, unable to determine its actual screen resolution and battery power. Probably, the device is a cool thing to have as a souvenir when you visit the country at 200-$300, but $1,500? C’mon!
