Retrobit has again gave us a reason to bring out those NES and SNES games. This time, it modified its Retro Duo video game console and came up with a portable one, called the Retro Duo Portable (RDP). Retrobit showed its new console game at the 2012 CES, which it said was brought about by popular demand.

By making its new console game portable, Retrobit gave consumers the chance to bring around the RDP and share with anyone. RDP is designed with ergonomic curves to fit the hands for comfortable and convenient use. RDP also features a 3.5 LCD screen, weighs 11.6 oz, and will be released in two colors, black and red. The device runs on rechargeable batteries that can support a 6-8 hours of gaming. However, a separate battery option will also be available for an extended playtime of up to more than 10 hours. RDP also allows a single player mode or a multi-player mode. To use the latter, RDP uses a duo controller adapter, which can accommodate original or 3rd party controllers.
The console, however, only features SNES compatible pin-connectors, unlike its original version which offered a separate 8 and 16-bit cartridge slot. NES games can still be played through retro port adapter, which is included in the package. Some observed issues with the RDP such as a weak LCD, loose buttons and its very light weight. Regardless of these observations, RDP is said to be a serious challenge to Supaboy.
See for yourself when it releases this February for $90.
