Fuzhou Rockchip recently gave us some shocking news that it will update their tablets running on RK2918 processor for the Ice Cream Sandwich, and will ultimately be the world’s first tablet to run on Android 4.0. For the benefit of those who think that it’s a dessert rather than an Operating System, Ice Cream Sandwich is the codename for the Android 4.0, which Galaxy Nexus released its SDK last October 19 of this year. And for a tablet to run on an Operating System that is famously recommended for smartphones, questions will surely sprout and eyebrows will rise. Of course, this is a pioneer engagement and with that comes along raves and rants.

Sources points out that the Android 4.0 PAD was assembled after a couple of weeks Google released its latest Operating System Source Code. With Fuzhou’s shyness towards spilling out some of the specs on the said tablet, it is confirmed that with the Ice Cream Sandwich’s versatility, it will most likely be a cross between an upgraded tablet and a smartphone: not bad for a first try. Ice Cream Sandwich will give the tablet a much sophisticated User Interface, resizable widgets, improved messaging and voice calls, internal photo editing, advanced web browsing and a lot more. And that’s just a primer.
This revolutionary attempt by Fuzhou will literally make waves and will surely change the way we look at tablets. This is just a step towards transforming its reputation as one of the world’s prime manufacturers.
Watch out for its release this coming December. No price and date are announced, just like the specifications. But then again, it is the first Ice Cream Sandwich tablet.
