This is an update to the recent problem ATI users encountered on The Saboteur PC game. Several ATI PC owners who bought the game were not able to load it because of some ‘mysterious’ glitch surrounding the ATI-Saboteur PC game combo. EA recently gave an update that the patch is available for this ATI GPU issue.
Finally! after years of waiting, gamers will be able to play the action-packed Saboteur! Ooops! Wait Joe, there’s a catch.
The patch released via Pandemic Studios DOES NOT FIX ALL ATI ISSUES! WTF!? A new thread in EA forums welcomes grunts and complaints from Saboteur PC gamers who are still experiencing glitches after applying this patch. When you go there, you will be asked to provide information about problems you still encounter on the game (just like before). Here are the things you should tell them or else, your post will be removed.
- Summary – brief description of the problem encountered
- Problem description – detailed explanation of the problem
- Reproduction Method – step by step detail on how to reproduce the problem you experienced
- Hardware Configuration – Specific details of your PC which includes (CPU type, GPU, RAM capacity, Hard Drive and OS)
- Reproduction Rate – describe how often you experience this problem (once , 2x or all the time)
EA is also guilty of the fact that even with the current patch, gamers with Quad core CPUs would “possibly have significant streaming issues without the following work around”. They are currently working for a fix on this issue and will include that on the next patch. EA team suggested a workaround on this glitch in case you belong to this unfortunate Quad core owners. They recommend you follow these Game-only steps. (Reminder: this solution is not “full proof”).
For Windows 7 and Vista only:
1.) Boot the game.
2.) Wait for the main menu to load, then press Ctrl-Alt-Delete.
3.) Select Start Task Manager.
4.) If the game is visible, press Alt-Tab, otherwise continue to the next step.
5.) Inside the Task Manager, go to the Processes tab.
6.) Find Saboteur.exe, right-click it, and select Set Affinity…
7.) De-select CPU 2 and CPU 3.
8.) Click OK.
The 13.8MB zip file patch is now ready and can be downloaded. However, it is still in beta stage and doesn’t 100% guarantee that it will resolve the ATI issue on your desktop once and for all. As we’ve seen above, several workarounds and follow-ups are needed to fully patch things up. We’ll keep you updated with the latest happenings on this bug. Stay tuned.
