EA is getting flooded with complaints regarding latest PC game installment Saboteur. Apparently, PC gamers who are using ATI graphic cards cannot run Saboteur on XP, Vista and Windows 7 (both 32 and 64 bit). There is no permanent solution how to fix it, although EA published on its forum that they have found a workaround on the glitch. However, they said that it wasn’t an “final fix” nor a “perfectly stable fix” but will allow the gamer to run Saboteur. Also, this work around is entirely based upon CPU processing power and will possibly only work for certain systems.

You’re probably one of the guys who were pissed off by this issue. How come EA and Pandemic studio forgot to test their game on ATI video cards? It doesn’t sound being bias to Nvidia, but they (EA or Pandemic) should know millions of gamers around the world are using ATI GPU card series. What will happen to ‘Joe’s’ newly bought ATI 5970 card?
If you’re one of the unlucky PC gamer who experience this Saboteur-no-run situation, here’s the workaround EA crew suggested on its forums. We hope it will fix your Saboteur ‘dilemma’.
In some of our tests we have found one workaround that seems to allow users to run the game. Some have posted adjusting the affinity process via “Task Manager” but our fix truly puts the system in a 1 core mode and will allow you to run the game. Overall this is not a final fix, nor a perfectly stable fix, but it will allow you to run the game.
This work around is entirely base upon CPU processing power & will possibly only work for certain systems.
Steps to turn off cores: (For Windows 7)
1.) Open MSCONFIG (You can open it by entering MSCONFIG in the search bar)
2.) Select the “Boot” tab
3.) Click on “Advanced Options”
4.) Check “Number of Processors”
5.) Select “1” from dropdown menu
6.) Click “Apply”
7.) Restart machine
Steps to turn off cores: (For Windows Vista)
1.) Open MSCONFIG – Start> Run > Type MSCONFIG
2.) Select the “BOOT.INI” tab
3.) Click on “Advanced Options…”
4.) Select the check box for /NUMPROC= set it to 1 & click “OK”
5.) Click “Apply”
6.) Restart machine
In case this new ATI trick didn’t work, you can go to EA forums and report your “Graphic Card”, “OS” and “Graphic Driver Version”. The last time I visited that site, thousands of users have registered their system. Perhaps, EA is compiling those series of ATI cards and OS experiencing the glitch. Best of luck!
