Certainly we were pleased with the Bada launch of Sammy at the MWC last year, only to be dismayed that its bada-powered phones came out as something mediocre and not really as interesting as the android-powered Galaxy S smartphones. As of today, a new update came from FE stating that the next-version for Bada a.k.a Bada 2.0 will have its release date this July.

But before we get into that, you should know that as early as last October, we already knew Sammy will be unleashing Bada 2, only to find out that its Samsung Wave II turned out to be another vaporware device on its release. After that, there’s another streak of Bada 2.0 news that came last December, and this one explains the new platform will come as something independent from Android, featuring tons of new features including NFC support, carrier billing, HTML5 and a brand-new SDK for interested app developers.
I know, this sounds really ambitious to think that Sammy’s majority of best-selling smartphone and tablets today are all using Android. But then again, the company will still be pushing Bada 2.0 at least on India first (maybe to test the water first, huh?). And the goal is increasing the number of Bada Phones up to 30% from its current 10-15% range.
Good luck!
