It seems that more and more manufacturers are getting into the Android-based handset mania as several Android-handsets are being released into the market. And as the holiday season slowly approaches, more Android-based handsets are scheduled for release in the coming months.
After the successful release of the Samsung Galaxy S smartphone series, Samsung is now ready to unveil another great Galaxy S branded handset, which is apparently called the Samsung Continuum (also known as the SCH-i400). This handset is still unannounced as of the moment, but recent leaked information showing this Android-based handset were seen lingering on different gadget websites.
The Samsung Continuum is apparently a smaller version of the Samsung Galaxy S. It is also similar in some aspects and looks like it’s going to sport a 3.5-inch Super AMOLED screen. It is also noticeable that the phone has some sort of a secondary screen beneath the four capacitive buttons called the ticker. The ticker is some sort of an uber-graphical RSS reader.
In addition to these features, the Samsung Continuum also comes with the following specs:
- Built-in 5 megapixel camera with auto-focus and LED flash
- Runs an Android 2.1 Éclair OS
- Powered by the 1 GHz Hummingbird processor
- 32 GB expandable memory card slot
- High Speed USB v 2.0
- Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g and n
- Bluetooth
- 1500 mAH Battery
In addition to these abovementioned specs, the Samsung Continuum also comes with an accelerometer, digital compass, proximity sensor and voice command feature and Touchwiz as well. It seems that these unofficial specs are pretty much of a replication of the Samsung Galaxy S but the main difference is the addition of a dual-screen feature.
This upcoming phone is also very easy to use and comes with some very cool features that its users will surely enjoy. You can simply add feeds when you do the initial set up of the phone, add items such news, RSS feeds, e-mail accounts as well as your favorite social networking sites to keep you updated anywhere and any time.
Samsung SCH-i400 Continuum will be heading for Verizon and might be offered at a price of $ 199 with a contract. Although as of this time, there is no official announcement yet coming both from neither Verizon nor Samsung as to when this upcoming phone will be available and as to how much it will be offered upon its launch. So watch out for it.
