So it’s now November 13! And for those Samsung Vibrant / Epic 4G users, you should know this day would be the ETA of the rooted Android 2.2 Froyo for your Galaxy S type of smartphone. Previously, we manage to cover everything there is that you need to know about rooting Froyo for Samsung Vibrant. So far it appears the time is still pending.
Anyway, good news if you’re using Samsung Epic 4G, because XDA-developer’s Firon manages to unveil this deodexed, zipaligned and pre-rooted ROM for Epic 4G users to finally upgrade their device to Android 2.2 without waiting for the official call of Samsung which is still not happening up to this date.
Just like any update, this one has known issues like a lag when you browse the web compared to the latency you have when using Android 2.1. Instead, you can try Opera, Dolphin HD as your alternative browser for this. Other possible problems will be about audio-skipping while in 3G and you need to toggle Automatic Brightness once so the brightness in the notification bar works.
Remember that this is a rooted-rom so you should have followed the guide by the developers on properly rooting your phone first. And remember, once you root your Epic 4G, you will be doing it everytime there’s an update for the ROM. So you might as well want to think about that.
