When we told everyone that we aren’t the most comfortable beings when Google announced its partnership with Samsung to release the Nexus S, we were definitely right. At that time, we are hoping Nexus S wouldn’t have its internal parts like a complete copycat with the Galaxy S series just because that series of smartphone gets buggy the longer you used it.
As some of you may already know, the line of Galaxy S Phones (Epic 4G, Vibrant, Moment and Captivate) are going on a game of hide-seek when it comes to its official update to receive Android 2.2 Froyo, the last time we’ve heard, it appears Vibrant would be having a yet another delay for this much awaited Froyo platform. Well, the latest news is about Samsung Intercept receiving its Android 2.2 Froyo but in some unexplained turnaround of events, it bricked majority of the phones of the users rendering their phones unusable. Shikes!
As of today, Sprint developers managed to roll-out a fix for this brick. The steps to install this is simple. Just download the file here, copy it on your SD card, insert it on your Intercept phone. Remove the battery and after replacing it, hold the volume key for a couple of seconds while pressing the talk end keys. You should see the screen of your unit prompting this message “Android system recovery”. Under this recovery mode, you browse your SD card and choose “apply sdcard:update.zip”. After selecting it, your unit will undergo several booting procedure which will take less than 5-10 minutes of your time. And after that, you can finally use your Intercept complete with Froyo!
This fix should work and wouldn’t erase any of the internal memory in your SD card, provided that you didn’t do a reset on its factory settings before it was bricked.
