We do know that the sun is a giant source of energy, solar to exact. Now, what if we can use that energy to power our laptop, wouldn’t it be cool? Dream no more as Samsung has already made a laptop that will harness solar energy – the NC215S.

Since it utilizes solar energy, the laptop’s lid is almost covered by a solar panel which by the way contributes 14.5 hours of battery life (not bad eh for a device that makes use of another source of energy). It has a 10.1-inch display (SuperBright LED with anti-reflective coating) with a resolution of 1024×600.

The NC215S has for its processor the 1.6GHz Intel Atom dual-core while graphics is provided by Intel’s GMA 3150. Internal memory storage is about 250GB so it wouldn’t be a problem storing lots of data. Moreover, it has 1GB DDR3 of RAM, three USB 2.0 ports, 4-in-1 memory card slot and it weighs just about 2.9 lbs.
Although introduced first in the African market (makes sense as Africa receives that much sunlight), the Samsung NC215S will be coming to Russia come August for a price of 13,999 rubles or roughly $479. Word came out though that it will hit US shores by July 3 for $399. With this laptop, the sun is indeed your friend.
